FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT!
For most Irish people the thoughts of being labelled the ‘Pasty Paddy’ by the pool is absolutely horrifying! Thankfully with a little preparation and the help of the pros, it’s possible to fake a convincing natural looking tan before achieving a real one.
Since 1999 The Midas Touch have carried out tens of thousands of spray tans. By now we are somewhat of an authority on the subject! At this time of year we find that some clients can be apprehensive about getting their Spray Tan done before jetting off, but there really is no need. Here are the answers to their most common concerns:
Can you tan through a spray tan?
A spray tan offers no protection from UVA or UVB rays so you will still tan but you will need to use an SPF. Moisturising is an important tip for maintaining your spray tan, so using an SPF will work double duty by moisturising your skin and protecting it from sun damage.
Will my tan go streaky in the pool?
As long as you avoid the pool for 24 hours after having your tan applied and you make sure to wash away all of the guide colour before you go swimming, your tan will be fine. Applying sunscreen before you take a dip is a great way to guard your tan as it will help to create a protective barrier between your skin and the water.
How do I make sure my spray tan is perfect?
A week before you jet off, cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise your entire body daily to create a perfect blank canvas for your therapist to work with. Shaving or waxing should be carried out at least 24 hours prior to your spray tan. On the day of your spray tan, we recommend that you avoid the use of deodorants, moisturisers, perfume and make-up as these may inhibit the effectiveness of the tanning solution. If you follow this advice your spray tan will be flawless!
One final tip: Don’t forget to pack a gradual tan in your suitcase to top up your tan and stay beautifully bronzed till you’re back in arrivals!
Bon Voyage!
